ZAZZU

Teame Zazzu conducted a full scale urban-wilderness interface search and rescue exercise in conjunction with homeland security, regional and state emergency responders to test planning, operational coordination and mass search and rescue operations.

The operation demonstrated incident command system practices utilizing a unified command structure amid multi-jurisdictional and multi-agency missing persons scenarios.

This is an exercise. Participants will comply with real-world emergency procedures.
Wilderness in the city was conducted at the Coal Creek Arena and adjoining Sand Creek Regional Greenway. TZK9 handlers observed SimCell participant roles and responsibilities as indicated by scenario controllers. TZMD operatives led Team and Agency players in direct action under exercise evaluation observers. An after-action report, participant feedback report, and Controller and Evaluator Debriefing was collected to conduct improvement planning for corrective action programs. Go Teame!

DEPARTMENTS
TZ Mountain Division specializes in conducting operations in the most extreme and isolated environments, from alpine downhill to rappelling and desert climbing. TZMD is ready to deploy for search and rescue operation and other critical incidents
Features

VERTICAL TRAINING: TZMD practices climbing, rappelling, and technical rescue skills in a variety of rock types, pitches, environments, and rigging situations.
Keywords: - Readiness - - Search and Rescue - - Climbing -
Whether it's finding solid anchors in questionable terrain, rigging a system to fit a unique situation, or improvising with less-than optimal gear choices, there is always another unique problem to solve when you go vertical.

INDEPENDENCE SHADOW: Live-fire practice manuever and ingress/egress in contested environments
Keywords: - Readiness - - Exercises - - Guns -
Silent Maneuvers and sudden contact procedures are an essential Mountain Division skill. TZMD members practiced ingress and egress maneuvers in wet, silent, and hot environments. With trained K9 units, TZMD moved swiftly through the mosquito-infested terrain. Safe movements were combined with a rapid tempo to simulate real-world problems.

OVERLOOK SPARK: TZ conducts ongoing utility studies of UAV engagements.
Keywords: - Readiness - - Drones - - Exercises -
Operating as a detached maneuvering element, TZ Mountain Division conducted live fire exercises in conjunction with overhead UAV support.

SURVIVE THIS: Air Medical Survival Challenge
Keywords: - Readiness - - Flying - - Drones - - Mindset - - Survival - - Search and Rescue - - SAR -
Together with multiple state and private agencies, Teame Zazzu conducted a wilderness hard landing survival scenario involving air medical helicopters dispatched to a scene flight in Tooele County for a dirt bike accident. As the flight center worked on GPS coordinates the the pilot announces engine fire in flight. As the helicopters turn on final approach to LZ the pilot announces to crew to expect a hard landing with limited power. TZ forces deploy by air and ground serving as training guides, rescue operations support, and drone reconnaissance units to find the downed aircrews, fix their position, and document their survival until the search and rescue operations are finished.

OPERATION FALCON BERM: TZMD completed the live-fire exercises using close combat small unit tactics low vertically separated man-portable UAS surveillance equipment.
Keywords: - Readiness - - Drones - - Exercises -
The operation focused on airspace control and air-ground integration planning and strategies for distributed asymmetrical deployment, recovery and appointment of UAS systems.
